Does Pinging and Index Submission really work?

I started using a site called BulkPing.com. It pings your site or page and they also offer RSS submissions and bulk indexing submission.

My question is:

Does this really work?

I think the RSS submission has some great value, but what about Pinging a site? What value is that and what value is the bulk indexing?

Take a look at their site and let me know what you think, because if it has any value at all, I'm thinking about making it a regular part of my IM efforts.
