Hello guys, Are there any Spanish IM here that will advise me on how does Google (and other search engines) handle keywords containing the tilde used in Spanish text Does Google treat "musica" the same way it treats "música"??? Does anyone have any experiences to share? I do understand that most people omit characters with a tilde when using search engines but does that mean I have to omit them as well in my meta tags and my copy?? Does it even matter?? I just want to make sure... SEO is a lot a work and I'm currently trying to optimize a page that is targeting keywords with tildes. Thanks |

I'm curious also. There maybe an untapped market in Spanish keywords. It would be a good thread if someone knows. Maybe that is where all the money is and it's a big adwords secret.

Never thought about this before, so I went to the Google Keyword Tool. música gets 33,100 exact searches monthly musica get 4,000,000 exact searches monthly If you check the search results "música" and "musica" show different results, so Google definitely shows some distinction between the two. |

There is a difference indeed in the results, you can also add complexity to this if you start taking into account the "ñ", which will make impossible to get an exact domain, but for some reason Google seem to be ok with the "n" for that case in the domain name... It is indeed a very interesting battle to do SEO in Spanish since we don't have access to certain tools that would make our lives a bit easier... |

Thanks for the helps guys... Ok so it makes sense to play it safe and omit this special characters in the meta tags since most common searches wont have them and Google does treat keyword with special characters differently. Now... what about the content of the pages? How will Google treat the relevance of the content with the incorrect spelled metatags? Does this mean I should omit them in my copy as well? I'm surprised Google doesn't ignore these characters in searches and treats them the same. Why will Google want missed spelled articles |

I'm not sure how it is treated by google, but so far again with the "ñ" I see no problem with the copy, Google seems to understand it without too much trouble. As for the other leters (á é í ó ú), I just hope it works just as it does when searching a page (Ctrl+F) in google Chrome, it seems to make no difference between "a" and "á". It would be interesting to have some data about this. |

| What tools/functions do you feel are missing from the Spanish SEO universe? I am working with a developer who wants to fill this niche. What would you like to see?

![]() Currently I like doing some Article Marketing but I have to manually do it, and it is time consuming. Not that I don't like it but I could definitely use that time researching for more niches. Same applies for the other kind of directories, it must be manually done. Thanks for your interest. | |

Doesn´t matter if you use it or not on your website. Google understands that they are connected allthough different so a little keyword variation in the links will allow you to rank for both.

Google ranks them different as I can see. I always build backlinks and the anchor texts have no "tildes" because that's how most of the people write the words in Google.

| A Spanish Spinning tool would be of great help as well as a blog network that accepts Spanish content.
