Is it true that your site will be Sandboxed if you ping too many Backlinks?

Hi all,

So I want to start pinging my backlinks. Some people say that you should ping all your links as soon as you get them. Others say that if you ping too many at once, the link velocity will spike and Google will sandbox you.

Did anyone test this? If it is true that Google will sandbox you, then I can easily buy 10,000 backlinks to my competitors site and ping them 4 times a day, every day.

Will appreciate some feedback on this.

It depends on the sites age and trust it has already got. I indexed to many back links for a completely new page i made and it got sand boxed quickly (2-3 days)!

Luckily it was a test site and I don't really care
