Default Google Ban CO.cc domains

Google deindexed the complete Co.cc domain set, which removed
every website using that domain from all Google search results. I really couldn't understand reason behind this step. Is't just because of too much spams through co.cc domains ?

I am guessing that they come to the conclusion that more than 90% of .co.cc where spam so they just banned it...

Hi kimseo,

They didn't de-index multiple domains, they de-indexed just one domain, co.cc. All the other .cc domains were untouched. All of the .co.cc subdomains are owned by the same entity that owns the co.cc domain. Because the owner of the co.cc domain had allowed a large number of scammers to freely use their subdomains the whole domain got de-indexed.

I have already started building an e-store/blog on one of these domains and I am just finding out about the Google ban on them. Would it be possible to bypass effects the ban on the site by feeding the co.cc domain to a .com domain. Would the link juice from the co.cc domain flow to the .com domain and effect is as usual or does the .co.cc domain just cancel out any kind of promotion.

Hi JohnathanAubrey,

You have two options.
  1. You can use a 301 Permanent Redirect to channel most of your existing link juice to a new domain. You should retain about 85% of the link juice if done properly.
  2. You can request a reconsideration from Google. They realized that a few good subdomains would get de-indexed and will reconsider those that make a request.

I would just 301 to a .com and permanently move your site to the .com

I am a firm believer in .com and this is one reason why lol

I've never heard of them before... Doesn't sound I wasn't missing out on anything anyway.

well, that won't work.
a couple of legit and in fact very unique sites were turned down. likely because they don't want to make an exception (just yet). it will pass in a few months, probably, or as soon as co.cc gets their act straight and starts monitoring registrations and content more closely.

It was a free domain name so pretty much spammers didn't have to waste any amount of cash. You know how bad these spammers are, I bet each of them made about over 100 spamming free domain names. Google had no choice.
