Hi Folks I just added Statcounter to my site and noticed that statcounter shows 2 exit clicks (2 users) on my Adsense ads. When I log into my Adsense account, it only registers one of the click. Is Adsense discounting one of the clicks or will it be updated later on in the day? The basic question is, if someone clicks on your Adsense ad, does this get registered immediately in your Adsense account or will it take some time to do this? Thanks Norm |

I know Adsense for Feeds is updated in real time. I can scroll down the page for my Adsense Feed inside Google feed reader, then go check my Adsense Admin. account, & it shows each block of Adsense Ads as a page view. So If you have 1,000 pages on your sites feed, then view your feed inside a feed reader, you'll see a lot of page views for one vistor to your feed. I'm talking page views here, not clicks (don't click your own Ads). Anyways, the feed is real time, not sure about anything else being real time in Adsense since I don't click my own Ads. |

Yes Adsense discounts many clicks. I have had Statcounter show legitimate clicks from my website visitors but never show up in my Adsense stats, and it seems big G only pays you what they want. Some call it "Shaving". It's just something extra you have to factor into your cost/benefit business model.

Yes i believe that adsense is updated in real time. And yes google also discounts clicks such as double clicks, if the user clicks on back right after clicking on an ad etc...

Money is credited real quick. (sometimes it gets subtracted right away as well) Impressions are what lag. I assume because google is more concerned about money. Statcounter will count clicks that are not real clicks. From what I have learned, it counts any click on and around the ad. Google only counts a click on the title or url. If someone clicks on the text or misses, statcounter counts it as a click. Google will also only count real clicks that take the clicker to the ad site, and stay there for a certain amount of time. I can't prove it, but there does seem to be some ads that are paid for an action. I've seen forms on an ad that one must fill out. Fill it out incomplete or incorrect, is that a valid click? Ads using youtube are also in question. How long does a clicker have to watch the video? Yukon, this one's for you: How does google count a click for a download link? If one does not download, do they get credit? The bottom line, is that google looks out for their paying customers first. And this is as it should be. If they feel the advertiser did not get their moneys worth, or at least a chance, it's not going into your pocket. Google is not there to rip off anybody as so many claim. They want to be fair to all parties. After all, adsense is free and you don't have to use it. Statcounter shows any and all clicks. Not just "legit" ones. There's where the problem lies with those type of programs. I am at peace with google. I take what they give me and move on, trying to pump up visitors. Paul |

Either way, Google is not charging the customer for the click if you're not getting paid for it, anyway. They're not trying to cut you out to boost their own profit, that would be quite silly. If they really wanted to improve their margins, they'd just give us a lower percentage.

Don't know, don't care and think is counterproductive for anyone losing time with it... In the end, it's all about traffic and CTR. Who cares if they update it by the second or every hour?

Sometimes adsense can be a pain in the butt like that ... don't worry about it just keep going and it will update itself.
