Default How do you find ideas for niches?

I am very good at keyword research, but I am hitting "niche idea block" as I am getting rolling.

As I sit here and type this I have about 10 ideas for sites, all beautifully researched to win marketing wise. So I have to ask:

Where do you find ideas for niches / keywords to target? Lets just say both for informational adsense purposes and commercial amazon purposes?

Do you have some sort of ritual? Please share it here!

For niche ideas, look to article and blog directories. Tons of them out there.

Try looking at some of the things trending on Google Trends.

You at least get to see what people are searching for and what's interesting them right now. It may very well spark inspiration! :-)

I have found the thing that works for me is to focus on what I am passionate about. This becomes my own personal niche If I love, surely others must!

Another thing to look at is your traffic sources & keyword sources of existing niches. You may identify something people are searching for that is "unrelated" to what you have now.

I just discovered a very profitable niche this way based on the traffic I'm receiving for 2 very profitable keywords. I had written 1 article and it attracts major visits - now I am preparing a new site for this niche to capitalize on it.

I would be interested in hearing how you use these sites to find niche ideas.

I use those sites because they are a direct source of buyer niches - you can see what is popular and what is being bought, sold, etc.

Okay, I understand that aspect of it but what's "hot" today is not necessarily hot tomorrow when it comes to purchasing patterns.

With niche development wouldn't you want to know a little bit of history, search rates, etc?

Well yes but that's what you do once you 'drill down' to the keyword level. I was simply talking about broad niche ideas. After you find a niche you want to investigate, there could be many different keywords for or within that one niche.
