Yahoo! and Bing are more complex. Seriously. Because most people here keep asking how to rank high there.

Well, google owns youtube.... I am not even sure what the question is. Youtube's algo is built on relevance, views, maybe ratings. They don't have much to go on. It's a video. The majority of people that do searches for videos do so on youtube. Youtube and google use a completely different database. The question makes no sense. If yahoo and bing are more complex, then their model is a dismal failure of complexity. Paul |

google for sure. You can still write 100's of keywords in your videos description and youtube search will still display your video for all the keywords...

Google for sure, YouTube has not nearly as many factors to consider...but video views and ratings play a bigger role.

Youtube is a very simple algorithm - just get the most views, get more awards, comments, etc. etc.... Google you would have to sometimes take years to rank for certain keywords.

Google's search algos are far more complex. As Paul mentioned there are only so many variables that you can check for on a video, that's completely managed on its own video platform. Things like views, ratings, relevancy, overall engagement, aside from those maybe some smaller indicators but you can only go so deep with Youtube. |

They are virtually based on the same algorithm due to the fact that there's no way to indicate what a video is about based on it's actual video content, just the meta data and text surrounding that video. Once a video get's ratings and views than it becomes easier for a learning based algorithm to rank it's videos. |

I'd also say google. Youtube hasn't had enough time to reach the level of google. Since that is their main baby. Everything else would be secondary.

Google by far. Too many other factors to worry about (on page and off page) compared to YouTube which is based solely upon social proof (views, comments, likes, etc.).
