Keyword Advice

I have an Optometrist in Hollywood Florida that I'm working with. The keywords I'm looking at for optimization are "eye dr. hollywood" and "optometrist hollywood". Do you think I need to add "florida" or "fl" to the keywords that I optimize?

When I search on the terms outside of Florida, it defaults to Hollywood, California.

I wasn't actually aware that there was a Hollywood in Florida (I'm from the Uk so pretty clueless).

I would definitely say that you need to add florida or fl to maximise your success (use Google Keyword tool to find the most searched term).

You don't want lots of useless traffic from people looking for Hollywood California, your also more likely to have significantly less competition by adding the Florida part.

Yea with both CA and FL you should use the state in the keyword to. I got on Google front page for "plumbers Woodland Hills" not knowing there was another city same name different area also.

In order to differentiate yourself from that other Hollywood, you'll probably do better adding FL...you can do both and test which keywords send you more traffic.

Try using keyword tools to see the volume of people looking for your type of services in your area.

Try both variations. There's also a Hollywood in Northern Ireland. Its the home of Rory McIlroy.

Hey Robruno,

Shoot for these...

eye doctor hollywood fl
optometrist in hollywood fl
optometrist hollywood fl

and for kicks I would go for the full state name on those, as well.

I looked and these are the keywords that are being searched!

Thanks everyone! I was leaning towards going with the fl or florida. I used the Google tool to search the keywords and wasn't sure if I should add it. I figured I would ask the experts before I got started. Thanks again for all the advice.
