Hi Warriors My Domain register acc is seperate from my hosting provider. I want to move my WP blog to a different web host. I presently have some good SERP positions. My questions are A Would moving host have a negative effect on my listings? B How to minimize any negative impact moving host may have? Not moving is not an option. Many Thanks Warriors taffiliae |

After you cange the web host you may notice rankings will drop for few days. However you will again get back to the original position within a month. |

If the urls dont change at all, and your site doesnt experience down time due to you screwing up your migration, there will be no effect in your rankings.

taffiliae - typically most hosts (at least in my experience) can/will migrate your sites from your old host to their servers quickly and easily via cPanel. If you don't feel comfortable backing up and restoring your WP database see if your new host will handle it for you. Peace |

You should not see any rankings change by moving your site unless you have some extended down time. To keep that from happening you should leave the site up at the old location for a week just to make sure that you have time to make sure everyone is getting sent to the new location. One other thing you should do is add a forward to any email accounts you have on the domain so you do not lose any emails during the transfer. |

You won't lose rankings from changing hosts, and you can even buy aged domain names and nost lose raking on those sites. There are some key things watch on domain transfers but you shouldn't have to worry at all about changing hosts.
