I'm sure they're great if the site has high (or even low) PR, and the links are dofollow. But sometimes when searching for dofollow blogs in my niche I find some .edu sites where I can leave a comment. So in other words, is it worth it to go for .edu links on .edu sites/pages where there is PR0? What about a page where the link is nofollow? |

I suggest don't concentrate on PR or dofollow when posting to .edu. I suggest post links on pages which are related to your website. That gives better results compared to posting on dofollow or PR pages. |

I think a better question you should ask yourself is does .edu matter for your backlinks?

Mike, that's pretty obvious. Of course .edu matters. That's what this whole thread is about.

there was a time when .edu links were hard to come by and that is why there may have been more importance on them. Today they are a dime a dozen. You think Google doesn't know that? In fact, I would argue the only reason they ever had more value was because at one time they were more heavily moderated, thus pages had far fewer outbound links. That made the links more valuable. Any high PR page with a low number of outbound links is just as good. |

Having a link back from .edu site is a big honor as google tend to give authority to .edu domains. So I too don't think it does much of a difference if the site with edu domain have a High PR or 0 PR if it is edu domain and the content is unique it will get PR very soon.

Dofollow vs NoFollow is one of the most FAQ that clients ask me on a daily basis. No matter what it is, you should always have, half dofollow and half nofollow, why? To make the backlinks look natural. I think a nofollow .edu is as important as a dofollow .edu EVEN if the dofollow has much more of an effect. It justifies a natural backlink process. If you want to hide your foot prints, the only way is to get nofollow or N/A backlinks. Don't just go for high PR Url/Domain .edus, google will notice this and slap your website. regZ |

I think it matters for them being DoFollow but PR is not so important (you get a backlink anyway).

Dofollow means Google will consider it as a backlink to your site. So dofollow is important factor to be considered while high Pagerank is a good sign, rest lower pagerank can even provide you benefit if coming from .edu Thanks |

Both dofollow and nofollow links are good these days. But still dofollow holds a slight edge over nofollow links. Having both will diversify the links. |

Thanks, guys. You too, Mike, sorry about that--I thought you were making a comment for the sake of making a comment. While visiting the relevant sites that come up in my daily Google Alerts, I'll just comment regardless. |
