Default Google Panda Case Study for Past 2 Months

Hello Warriors,

After the launch of Google Panda 1 in late February, we were monitoring some of the SERPs for our websites. I have seen lot of improvement and on the other hand I've seen worse ranking drop.

From past two months I was monitoring two of my websites. I will share my opinion and experience that will help everyone dealing with Google Panda.

Case Study 1

One of my blog established few months back. I was researching and compiling quality content after hard work. Here to mention, there is no Off-Page SEO on this blog as yet. I was quite surprised that this blog survived the Panda and not only this, Google pushed the rankings and I was ranking among top websites in a high competitive niche. My traffic sky rocketed to 100 daily visitors to 400 visitors daily (Google Analytics Data).

I was quite surprised because I haven't outsourced backlinks neither any in house SEO. The blog was on premium theme and quite clean no heavy images, java script or flash. I was just serving Google Adsense on this blog.

Ranking Factors

I was getting social shares from visitors 3 or 4 Diggs, Twitter Shares 8 to 10, FB shares. Content was 100% unique with minimum post count 700. I was posting thrice a week. Inter linking was quite strong with other posts on the blogs and categories.

Case Study 2

This blog is 2 years old and content is also unique, but most of the content is re-written, but copy scape pass and perfect for normal readers. Also I have outsourced SEO and regular link building. I was quite amazed on the results. SERPs dropped drastically from top 10 to not even in top 100.

Conclusion

I have analyzed that nowadays content is still king, but it matters what you offer. Unique content is not going to help alone, you need to offer high quality in your content. Link building is very effective, but social media also plays good role in rankings. If you are building backlinks, revise your current strategies because Google may be considering quality of backlinks. I hope this will help you understand Google Panda requirements.

I would like to hear your opinion on the results!

Lawrence

Good case study!

It's all about unique content, social signals, and a quality backlinking plan.

When backlinking, don't just go for quantity, this won't help.

You need to get diverse links from other high traffic, unique content pages.

The times are a changin

Thanks for the case study. I have become more and more of a believer that I should make backlinks that make sense to myself as quality links and Google will reward me. I can tell intuitively that a chinese forum is not going to do me much good.

Yes correct, that is why most powerful backlink is through guest blogging in your niche. It will give you social shares, traffic and most of all a good backlink.

I haven't tried guest blogging, that sounds like a great way to get a quality back link. I try to write long articles that look good, and people want to read, social sharing, and social bookmarking.
