I wanted to load an adsense banner on the side above the sidebar. I put the code in the sidebar php. It showed fine for a short article but on a 1k article the sidebar and banner disappear and are shunted down to the bottom of the page. I have been trying all after noon to fix it. First I tried reuploading the default header.php and sidebar.php to any directory I found them in search- inc admin, theme and includes. This didn't work. My wordpress was outdated so I decided to update it. That fixed it. Happy at this and wanting ads back I tried doing it again- tho I took a backup 1st- but only with the backup database plugin not backing up all the files. I put it back and the bastard did it again. I deleted the code making sure it was how it was before I did it and still the little ****s stay at the bottom. So I thought I try and reupload wordpress again and now even this isn't working. I tried redoing the database backup and that didn't work either. What do I do now? |

I just ran into the same issue and did not do half of what you just described. But I did figure out I had some div tags that were not closed........I used a theme and I don't know how the div tags ended up messed up but they did. The side bars and footer was broken. what a pain!

I wish I knew the answer but yours isn't the first issue I have heard about Wordpress updates. I am very nervous about downloading the wordpress 3.2.1 that my site keeps recommending, since I have heard stories about the dashboard being messed up, columns gone, and now this. Ah would love some advice an hope someone jumps on your question, steady pay, with a good answer. |

I have had a sidebar pushed down all the way to the bottom due to having images too large or a youtube embedded video with too wide a width. Also, I think the div tag problem was another time this happened so do check to be sure there are both open and closed div tags. Debbie |

It was fine for shorter articles like I said but it shunted the sidebar off on a longer article for some reason. I just tried another theme and interestingly it seems to still be on some but not on others. I switched to one of the classic themes and the sidebar was ok again but switched to another new theme thinking it would be back to normal on another fresh theme but it went down again . I checked the div tags and like I said I made sure the code went back to how it was before I added the ad. I even tried reuploading wordpress and it didn't do anything. I don't get this...what file is keeping this thing in place? How can I do a full wipe of changes without losing my config- I tried reuploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders plus loose files in the root and it didn't fix it either? | |
