Default SEO Question Pertaining To Multiple Sites

I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this...

Anyhow, we have a potential client who has many different websites for specific industries he's trying to promote. For example purposes, let's say his main site is www.carsandtrucks.com anad he has other more specific sites as well like, www.toyotacarsandtrucks.com, www.fordcarsandtrucks.com, etc. He wants to link all the specific sites to his main site (maybe have tabs at the top of the home page where someone can then go to each of the specific sites, and also have a slideshow where someone can click a picture and go to a specific site, etc.). Just an FYI, but none of these sites are subdomains, they are all unique urls.

Now, he wants to do SEO on his main site, but would you guys recommend only doing SEO on the main site (adding a lot more of the specific kw to the mix), or do SEO on all the specific sites individually for better ranking purposes. He has very specific, and very keyword rich domains. The first word in the url is different for each site for each of the different specific niches he's targeting.

Everything above make sense? Any thoughts/advice on this?

Default Re: SEO Question Pertaining To Multiple Sites

Hey there,

Well, they can all easily be redirected to the main site using the CPanel, there's an option saying "redirects" that makes it really easy to do so.

Now on the SEO "part" of your question.

I would suggest doing intensive on-page and at least some off-page SEO on ALL of the sites. They all target separate keywords and each keyword can bring in a good chunk of traffic.

Therefore I would suggest trying to rank them all up to page 1.

However there is a problem with all this. I do not believe the content will be shown or even indexed by google if you redirect the page to the main site.

If I am correct on this one I would sugges to simply build all the sites seperately in a similar fashion (or try different ways/versions to see which one does best).

If I misunderstood "linking all the sites to the main one" as redirects then I apologize and continue with that idea. Still do the SEO for each keyword/site (obviously :P)

Start on the SEO on all the sites. Do it now. Build lots of QUALITY links. Profit.

Cheers,

David
