Arrow Articles Marketing Styles

Hi, all.

I'm been studying up on Article Marketing(and SEO in general) and I believe I exceed "information overload". It seems smoke is coming out of my eyes. I think I can smell fava beans. open my skull and be done with it. on second thought, I'll hang on to my brain.

So far, I have identified 3 common styles of article marketing.

A. post articles/press release on your own website then submit to bookmarking sites.
B. submit articles/press release(spun or unspun) to respected (not crappy) articles/pr directories. may or may not create link wheels/funnels to link to the directories.
C. Post the same articles/press release on both your own website and submit all of them to bookmarking sites.

There are sure to be more and I'll update as soon as my brain cools down.

Much debate on duplication content, whether the same version of articles/press releases on different sites has negative effect on SEO. But I guess it will be difficult to generate tens of thousands of backlinks if you don't spin articles. I'll dig deeper to find out more.

If anyone has any tips, comments or insight feel free to express yourself.

Thank you for your knowledge and generosity.
I'm going rest my eyes for a moment.

Here's a better idea - why not do a combination of all three?

Post them on your website. Wait for them to get indexed by Google, then post distribute them among other article directories. You can do the social bookmarking at any time (in fact, I would do this when you post your articles to your website to help index them at a faster rate).

Writing unique articles and submitting them to article directories will only keep your wheels spinning. Don't give them YOUR unique content - use it for yourself. Submit the same article to a variety of top level directories for additional traffic and extra backlinks (although the backlink power of most article directories isn't worth much, but it's still a backlink nonetheless).

Writing good content takes time, so if you do it, I recommend you use it on your own site.

1) Write good content, put it on your site. (1000+ words, pictures)

2) Write 'less good content' with a lead to your site, post it on article sites linking back to your main site with the super good content. (450 words)

3) $$$ Profit.

Ideally, you should be outsourcing #2 and only submit to high quality article directories.

Step 1) Create Great Content

Write articles that are 750-1,500 words in length and are non-promotional. They should be informational in nature and ideally a bit entertaining as well.

Step 2) Distribution

Distribute your articles far and wide. The more distribution, the more backlinks and traffic you will get. However, it is very important to submit your articles to the top directories (Ezine, ArticleBase) because of step 3...

Step 3) Syndication

You don't have complete control of step 3, but you do have a say in the matter. If you write great content and distribute effectively and widely, your article will then be syndicated successfully on many sites. This means more traffic and non-directory backlinks.

Here's the MOST important thing you NEED to know about article marketing:

Great sites only publish great content, and great sites give great backlinks.

^That's your answer to all those high quality backlinks everyone keeps talking about

Here's a break-down of how I use my content.

1 x long article - guest post
1 x long article - guest post
1 x long article - index on my site, then mass distribution
1 x short article/product review - only on my site

I don't follow this exactly all the time, but its a good format for myself personally to get links and traffic while still providing unique content for my site.

Wow, Thank you for the great info.
Many People have stated that there are only a few legitimate article directories left. (ezine, articlebase) What are the other still legitimate articles directories ?

Legitimate? In regards to what?

An article directory should really only be judged on its ability to get you exposure, and this exposure should count towards 2 types of people...

1) Readers

These are people surfing the web that happen across your article. Ezine USED to rank well in the SERPs so you could get traffic this way. However, in this sense, Ezine is now somewhat useless.

2) Webmasters

These are the people that you need to write for more than ever. Webmasters still come to Ezine looking for content which is why you should still submit there. When they publish your content you get more traffic and non-directory backlinks.

Any article directory accepting and publishing articles is legitimate, but those receiving the most attention from webmasters are the ones that should be focused on. There is no way really to measure how many webmasters specifically are visiting and publishing content from a directory, so it is best to submit to the most popular directories as they are likely where these webmasters are looking.

Here are the top 10 imo:

  1. Ezine Articles - PR 6
  2. Article Base - PR 6
  3. Article Alley - PR 5
  4. Idea Marketers - PR 5
  5. Article Snatch - PR 5
  6. Sooper Articles - PR 5
  7. Article Blast - PR 5
  8. A1articles - PR 5
  9. Article Slash - PR 4
  10. GoArticles - PR 3

Yeah, I should have said 'reputable' instead of 'legitimate'.
I was asking for article directories which produce back-links that actually counts.
Thank you for sharing the list. It was very helpful
