I never had any issues. And I have many websites that use this. If you do not want to do this,just submit your new posts(www.yoursite.com/thenewpost/) to social bookmarking sites

Try this. And then do some social bookmarking.Also as John specified, create forum signatures on very popular sites and contribute to that forum. Create some blog commenting backlinks as well.

They will get indexed very fast.

Is the site you are talking about the one from you signature? If you want, you can PM me and I will give you some advice on what you have to do and where you are going wrong. If it is the site from your signature...the main thing you need to fix is the loading time...it takes long and google doesn't like that. Your visitors will click back as well if it takes to long to load the pics and the rest of the content. Also aim for more buyer keywords.

Every time you write a new post, wordpress automatically pings your new post to those webisites. Pinging is letting google know that something new is on the website.

Social bookmarking sites are also a good idea... as the google bot visits them a lot and it will see your link

It did not affect me in a negative way ever. And I know people who are using this and do not have any issues. After all, if such a thing would affect your site, then your competitions would ping your pages all day long.

That's true. If you have an older site,sometimes you do not even need to build backlinks and it will get indexed. But people that have new websites like to get their posts indexed fast usually.

Waste of time.

Just start building backlinks and the site will be indexed. I cannot think of any reason why I would need something indexed within 2 hours. It's not going to start ranking on the first page of the SERPs immediately.

Your time is better spend building backlinks.

this is white hat, as said before thats what pinging is for and WP can do it automatically just paste this list as directed. it will only take you a moment, and you only need to do it once and it can only have positive impact so do it - good info thanks to the OP.
