Hello everybody! I have a question. About 1 year ago, I launched a new website about photography. Good content, nothing to do with adsense, just a good, old-style review and tips website. To have it indexed faster, I placed links to it from another old website I own, no longer active, but still with good page rank and a good amount of visitors. This old website was a gaming website, so different topic entirely. About 1 year has passed, and the new website is starting to grow. I have read many sources saying you should never link back from one of your websites unless they are strictly related. Additionally, due to the size of my old website, in Google Webmaster Tools I see 20,000 links back to my new website from my old website. Are those links actually hurting the new website? I was thinking of adding "nofollow" to the links, but would this be a good idea at this point? Thanks! |

How do the big boys do it? They interlink, ad nauseam, same IP, why would you not do the same? It seems to be the best kept secret that is entirely out in the open! From amazon to ebay, wikipedia to gas buddy, and all sites in the empires of go.com, fail blog, etc. etc. etc. Paul |

Adding nofollow or removing them at this point would do more harm than good... don't do it. If the links have been there for a while, you're probably OK. While the sites being on the same IP is something people have varying opinions about, it's probably not hurting your site. If they aren't, even better.

I do not think that adding a nofollow to the links is a good idea as you are getting your sahre of traffic for these links. Are the two websites sharing the same Ip address? or are these sites on different Ip's as being on the same Ip's and linking to each others might hurt your ranking. |
