Arrow < Can you SEO eBay? >

I don't really use ebay to make money. I was wondering how it works... can you do seo for it as well?

What I mean is , can you optimise your auctions content in such a way to show up at the top of ebay when people type a certain keyword?
For example, let's say that I am selling a laptop...could I do on-page seo for that auction in order to ensure that it comes on the first page of their search results when people type a keyword like "second hand laptops"?

Also, does ebay have something similar to google keywords tool to find how many people search for a term?

Thank you!

Tip Re: < Can you SEO eBay? >

Yes this can be done I used to do it when I was selling on ebay. If you optimize your listing it will show up in the search results for that keyword but only if they do a natural search.

Ebay use time based auctions to show listing that are ending soon so it can be a little tricky to trick the system at times but creating a keyword rich auction worked bested for me.

But the best part is that if you create a keyword rich auction and get some backlinks to your auction page your auction will show up in google for even more exposure.

Hope this helped!
Hit thanks plz!

Absolutely you can and you should!

That helps you get the edge in searches on Google/Yahoo/Bing, just follow the standard on site SEO suggestions and you'll be able to increase your SERP rankings. Remember your Title, on site keywords, etc.

Finally, a little backlinking can go a long way. Although keep in mind that since its eBay and an auction format you need to start RIGHT away to see results.

I'm an eBay expert, not so much an SEO expert. I hire guys for that part. In my experience, SEO affects 30 day Fixed Price listings, I haven't seen so much additional traffic on auctions outside of people who are already on eBay.

I was also wondering this. I have a fairly keyword rich listing however it still gets poor eBay 'best results' rankings, is there any other tips and tricks that can implimented?
