Is it possible to get a free website ranked on Google?

Is it possible to get free websites ranked on Google or other Search engines? In example, creating a website on Yola, Weebly, or one of the many others & basically being a sub-domain of them such as www.xxxxxx dot weebly dot com or www.abcdef dot yola dot com, etc.

Also, is it possible to move one of these to your own domain as a sub-domain (a site built on one of the free sites)? As my finances are extremely low at this time, I'm looking for the least expensive route.

Thanks in advance for any & all info. This is a great forum & I've got a lot of great info & learned a great deal reading through the threads and posts.

If there is a very low competition on the selected keyword, the answer would be yes

Google does not give a sh_t whether you pay for the web site of somebody else does as long as it works and the content is unique.

So, the answer is: Yes, you can get a free web site ranked in Google.

I have seen free sites are also ranking for medium type competition but for higher competitive keyword they don't have a chance...

Yes, but it depends on the keyword your have choose and how is your site promotion competent.

If you want to rank a sub-domain you need one of two terms in the sub domain URL:

- an individuals name or anynameblog.yoursite.com

Having said that there are lots of sub domains that rule their niches, but they have a ton of info on them which has been compiled for years. If you're new you gotta have an indiviudal's name or use the word blog in your sub URL.

I've seen free sites get high ranking on google but they are non-profit type sites. I don't know if for-profit type free sites can get google ranking.

I do know that webs.com, a free site, does not allow you to create keywords for their individual pages unless you pay for premium status which is $10/month or so. I imagine many of the free sites are like that but I'm not sure. I do think that a free site that gets a lot of traffic is likely to rank well, whether or not it's a free site and whether or not you have the option of putting keywords in the code.

Absolutely, it's called parasite hosting and works incredibly well. Wikis, video sites, Bio pages ... really any site that lets you build a page (or a few like wikis) you can rank on. Just make sure their backlink portfolio is in good shape (>100k total domain backlinks) and the site has some age (archive.org >3 years, but the older the better).
