As we know that submitting to social bookmarking sites, posting forums, ....These are the basic things for doing SEO on off page. But I think that we can do one of those basic things, and the result is still the same as we do the whole thing. I only do little forums posting as I heard that there is little value for posting forums. I submit my sites to social bookmarking sites that approve my site fast. And I also put my link in profile. This brings me a good result after two days. I don't brag about this, but this is true.

Yes, in order to get traffic to new website we need to participate in forum discussions, social newtworking and Bookmarking sites. Also we need unique content in our site and also the Tags H1, H2 and H3 are very important.

I hear alot that forum posting and bookmarking are low value in terms of SEO but you can't argue with the results. I think they are an essential part of the mix even directory submission (if you find the good ones).

I'm very new to SEO but would like to share what i've done so far.
On site: Unique content, optimised keywords, use of images with alt as keywords
Off site: submit to article directories such as ezine and go article. Post on onfollow high PR blogs and comment in forums.

You found your own way skyvia. Social bookmarking works both for traffic and SEO. But I didn't found much buyer traffic from social bookmarking. But keep article marketing in mind as well. If you can make article marketing a habit, it's one of the easiest way. Thanks for sharing your your experience. Wish you better success.

It depends your targeted niche. May be your niche is not much competitive. I need to do different SEO activities on daily basis, as I am working for a very competitive niche.

I am still a newbie when it comes to social bookmarking method, are you just going to submit a site then wait? or do you have to do something to get your site in the first page of a social bookmarking site?

Also, when doing profile backlinking, are you posting/creating profiles on relevant sites or just anywhere?

Good point about commenting on 'onfollow high PR Blogs'. It's amazing how many people comment on blogs thinking they are building backlinks to help their SERPs but have no idea about the no follow tag.

In short, diversified link building has a good effect in ranking. But we must be aware of doing this one because in this activity, we are so prone in getting links from crappy websites which according to Google is no good.

Another thing is, if you are using keywords having a low level competition, this would definitely bring your site on top. On the other side, it's not enough to rely on link building alone if you are competing with keywords having a very high level of competition.
