Default Drive traffic to aff link or to my on site?

I have several Web 2.0 properties ranking very well in serps. I currently have those properties linking directly to Amazon. However, I was thinking about linking to my review sites instead and from there, sending them on to Amazon.

Is anyone here doing this and if so, what kind of results are you seeing? What are the advantages (if there are any) of driving Web 2.0 traffic to my own sites instead of Amazon?

Hmm I'm not sure this is really an SEO question, but usually I'm an advocate of taking control and always leading traffic to your own sites/properties. However, in this situation, if someone is clicking an affiliate link and getting ready to buy, I don't see the reasoning in putting another step between them and the "buy" button.

Just my 2 cents.

Most likely an extra step will lower the conversion rate.. can't really come up with any advantages.

The only advantage that comes to mind is that the site has multiple sources of traffic if I ever decide to sell it.
