Default Help understanding rankings for "seo expert"

If you google "seo expert", my friend Chris Wyatt holds 3rd position and a company from India holds 4th. I compared the 2 sites on Spyglass and Website grader to try to understand why Chris's site ranks higher than the "seobyexpert.com" in 4th. Chris has about 60 BLs for "seo expert" and SEObyExpert has nearly 1,000 for "seo expert". The India sites excels in nearly all categories under website grader, so I am wondering why Chris's site is ahead. Obviously, we would all love to create fewer links and get higher rankings. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

There can be a number of factors that determine this, PR, -as stated above, is definitely one big factor. .EDU and .GOV backlinks seems to be the "in" thing lately.

Also, check his on-page SEO, it's probably better than the Indian company. His KW density is also probably better. Header tags, inter-linking and even a few outbound links pointing to other sites will also help a lot. Most "SEO Experts" are rather selfish and don't link to other sites to try and keep all the profits, but sneaking in a few outbound links greets Google with a smile if you know what I mean.

Content quality and overall user experience, he might have less affiliate banners on there (pages with tons of affiliate offer tend to be frowned upon), etc, etc, etc...
