Google SEO Questions (Keywords & Backlinks)

I am attempting to use SEO to build links to my quality content on my website. I am using a similar strategy to that of Joseph Archibald as mentioned in his "top 5 ranking in Google within 40 days challenge".

My questions however are SEO general and don't specifically relate to the method above but are more general.

My domain has relevant meta tags, descriptions, and keywords filled out completely for each page/post and the home page. Almost two months ago I wrote two SEO optimized (CopyBlogger's Scribe SEO) articles for my site.

Over 1.5 months ago I started this strategy on a domain that was about 3 months old at the time. I currently have two articles posted on my site about a week apart of each other.

For each article that was posted on my site I posted articles on 5+ (Amazines, ArticleBase, Bukisa, Buzzle, EzineArticles, GoArticles, SearchWasp, SooperArticles, & TheFreeLibrary) article directories with links back to my main content page (not my root domain). In addition, I created A Squidoo Lens, HubPage, WordPress Blog, Tumblr Blog, Blogger Blog. The main content page links to the two articles mentioned above and they both share the same main keywords. This should mean 20+ links back to my content page for the 2 submitted articles and other sites.

However, I am not seeing these backlinks in Google Webmaster Tools. In addition, Google Webmaster Tools does not recognize the main keyword nor any related keywords for these posts in the Webmaster tools. GWT also isn't pulling relevant keywords off the other pages of my site.

How long does it take before Google Webmaster Tools will recognize these keywords? These same keywords are used throughout my site.

In addition, Google Webmaster tools is only recognizing keywords that aren't really keywords at all and that have only been used one time on my site.

How long will it take for Google to register these backlinks? So far, I only see that Google is reporting 6 backlinks.

Is there something else I should be doing to make Google or other search engines better recognize the keywords of my content?
