Old Expired Domain With Lots of Good Links To It

Can I benefit from an old expired domain that still has many Wikipedia links (and others) to it (and shows a domain age of 5 in MS). It obviously shows no pagerank now, but is it possible to gain back the pagerank from old links that still point to the exact match domain if I register it now?

Should I try to replicate the old page that I can see in Internet archive?

Is there any benefit and what do I need to do to maximize the benefit if it exists?

I appreciate answers from those that may have experience or knowledge of this.

is it dropped or pending drop via auction. If it has not actually dropped, then it can be valuable, whether you use the same content or not. If its an EMD then you can turn it back into a traffic site. If its not, then you can use it has a high PR backlink. In either case it has some type of value... main question is at what cost. PR5 can go for $500 to $1000 and PR6 can go for $1000 to $2500... sometimes more. EMD tend to be more expensive because there is revenue potential so you are likely to see a high cost for the domain

Yes, I guess this is dropped - it's available for £4.95 etc at domain stores. Does this mean that the previous value (in terms of links in, etc) is unrecoupable?

Maybe I haven't made myself clear. I was looking around wikipedia for possible links into my site.

I found a site that was connected to my niche. It had expired about 4 years ago. The last thing in internet archive was all these years ago. However, it has the exact links into it - from about 25 wikipedia pages, and lots of answers.com pages and a lot of other pages (about 2500 backlinks) that would be wonderful to be able to link from now. (However, its dead - but available to register as new).

What I'm asking is - are there any legs in this? (I suppose I'm asking (out of hope/delusion) because there are still all these backlinks and domain age showing for the site in Market Samurai). Even if the MS links and domain age don't mean anything, can I ressurect any value from the fact that many high PR pages are still pointing at the exact domain that is available?

That's what I got around to thinking. Even if I get them to link again (knowing its a historical figure) I'm sure the PR would build back up. And I can slip a couple of niche pertinent links in there.

I know what you're saying about a dropped domain. Perhaps there's no value there, as is. However, if I contact those wikis and put back the same/similar information that made them link in the first place, I suppose I might get some links back? And these are PR5+ links.

As seoguru1 said, I think this is worth a play with for the cost.
