Default Is Backlinking losing it's strength?

Google is doing it again, looks like Google is getting wise to the back link guys. And we know that what Google does, the others follow. Or am I wrong?
I’ve been backlinking like crazy, to good relevant site, pinging to give it a little boost and my PR went down.
So, now what?

Take care, God Bless I'll meet you on the road to Success..

The PR has had a roll back almost every site went to the number it was before the last update weather that be up down or no change. No idea why. Just Google playing silly bu**ers again.

I would forget about it as it has no relavence to ranking and traffic. Judge your efforts on how much more traffic and money you make.

I agree with you guys. Sometimes Google is doing what ever they want. All those back link guys have no choice but to follow what the big G does. We should always keep an eye on new strategies in link building to keep up with Google.

I think that the ultimate on Google is to rely only on the user behavior on websites and on page analysis.
They are always improving their algorithm and move towards this direction and we could see it with the Panda update!

I think this time we have to just sigh and get on with it in regards to the PR rollback. Linking is certainly not dead by any means. There aer plenty of guys on this forum that rely on it as their main/even only form of SEO.

I have noticed certain types of backlinks to be less effective lately but nothing major. We still have many clients seeing great results by backlinking more and more.

Well guys I honestly don't think that that the people selling backlinks are going to say backlinking is dead. If it is, and as I said I'm way too green to tell. You all know much better then me. I'll keep on linking full force with the faith in the peeps, that know "That's you guys" I hope to see more responses.
Thanks...

I don't think backlinking is dead, but unique content, and a lot of it certainly can weigh heavy on a sites ranking...

Depends where you post. Backlinks are always a good idea, though. Just add it to your agenda.

Backlinking still has its strength . It's just that Google is making some updates that affect the ranking of our site.

Google's algorithms consist of hundreds of factors and backlinking is only one of them and what I have seen and gathered from Matt Cutts videos is that they are changing their algorithmic settings almost everyday he has often referred it as moving the dials (of settings) of a big machine.

So I assume that we should expect very very frequent changes from now onwards because Google is always tweaking their system. But no matter what they do the bottom line is that they want to improve the "user experience".

Therefore if we too concentrate on giving the visitors of our site a good experience by providing quality content or service then we need not worry about getting "X or Y" number of backlinks or whether the backlinks are losing their strength or not because the true judges of our site quality are our visitors.

Well in My Opinion Google is changing its techniques and seo guys have to understand Google basics!! Basically Google wants to rely on qualitative content and strong page optimization rather the generating tons of back links!!

Back links aren't dead. Its just that its not enough to rest on existing back links and content. I've been tracking one site where I've put most of my back linking effort, and noticed that within about 4 or 5 days of my last article posting, it'll start to slowly fall in the SERPs (I'm tracking it through Authority Labs). Add a fresh article and it'll start to rise again.

Social bookmarking or additional back linking could accomplish the same positive result, but this is a new site that's not fully developed yet.

Google never speak about its PR policy openly so we can just make suppositions. I guess that Google is now, changing is policy of backlink counting and try to focus on content and other factors, which are give benefits to visitors rather.

After Google panda update some of huge article directory sites and others have lost there PR. Google Panda update is mainly aiming on the farmer links, this is also called farmer update. Hence it is better concentrating on quality content than quality less back links, getting back links from trusted reputed web sites still matters while determining PR.

Well if you are getting backlinks in less organic way, Google certainly get suspicious about your backlinking strategy.

If it discovers your inorganic backlinks it will devalue it or may be you get penalize for the same.

Also, there are many other factors that participate in improving your website's ranking and link building is just one of them.
Concentrate on other factors also, your rankings will definitely rise.

Its Not all about back linking, you cant increase your PR just by mad back linking. There are other factors also, may be your website is not properly accessible or the their may be design issues.. look for good on page optimization of your site..

I still do backlinking, but my major focus is on high-quality content. I write longer articles loaded with details that are well-optimized. These articles are ranking well quickly, often without additional backlinks.

That said I continue with conservative backlinking with a couple blog comments a day and some article submissions each week. Nothing crazy ... just a lot of unique content.

I've experienced the same on a few sites I own, and have changed my strategy to create more content for my site before going aggressive on link-building. Think about it to see whether it makes sense - is it logical for a five-page site with thin content to have thousands of backlinks?

The PR rollback is a test by Google. We have lost a lot of backlinks one of the being facebook and youtube. The links are there I checked them myself. Some may say the links have been devalued. I have a hard time believing Google would devalue Youtube, which they own. So, ride through the storm, those that will, I believe will be very happy.

In my point of view Google is just following its own rules more strictly.

Google always has guidelines
No paid links, no duplicate content.

Now after google panda update i am just doing link building with the same pace but concentrating more on OnPage factors and trying to put more valuable content on my sites.
