what is the most effective SEO technique?

I started a relatively new website and have used mostly pay-per-click to generate sales. I want to start generating more organic traffic through SEO. What methods are effective and which ones are to be avoided.

Any advice would be appreicated. Thanks.

SEO gets pretty in depth on what technique's you can utilize. Its more like, you have 250 different practices you can do, and most of them are weighted about the same as others when it comes to how beneficial it will be in ranking your site. Often people are miss led into doing lets say 5 types of SEO practice's and simply ignore the others. those good practices won't counter the bad ones and it will hardly help you. You need to research every aspect in creating a strong SEO website and utilize every technique to get the best performance.

Why would you ignore a perfectly valid TLD like .info and equate it to a sub-domain like .co.cc? You realize they having absolutely nothing in common right?

I have yet to see a see a shred of evidence that G de-values a .info any more than it would a .net. While .co.cc sites were all de-indexed, so there is no dispute as to how worthless those are.

If you can provide something to backup your comment about .info TLDs from any authoritative source, I'd love to see it.
