Default Submitting Your site to Google

My site is like 2 days old, I was wondering if I should submit it to google to index it or let google find it by itself? What's the best method for getting your site indexed?

If you submit it, it will get crawled. If you link to it, it will get crawled.

6 to 1. half-dozen to another.

LOL!

You do not need to submit your site to Google. I never have and my sites get crawled and indexed just fine. Just start building links and Google will find your site in no time.

It will probably get crawled faster if linked. Either way however, it will eventually get crawled.

Just start your link building, and you should have no problems.

If you find an article on wikipedia that hasn't been updated in a long time, just put a link to your site on there in the references, it will be crawled easily within a day, it might get deleted if you are unlucky and someone just happens to be watching the Recent Changes page for spam, but more likely than not, you'll be fine.

Please do not do this. It is spam. I don't come to your site and spam. It's akin to pissing in the drinking well.

If all you want to do is get indexed, then just get a backlink from another site that gets crawled frequently.

Comment on a good do-follow blog post and you can get indexed in hours.

Easiest and fastest way to get indexed is to submit it to Digg and Stumbleupon, have the Google XML sitemaps plugin installed, register it with Google websmaster tools, or create a youtube video that links to it. Any/all of these will ensure you are indexed in no time.

Wikipedia is a free-for-all website, designed to let anyone at anytime add
whatever they wish. It was built that way. Putting your link on wikipedia
is a wise move, if you can get it to stick. I spam it every now and then.
Finally got a great link to stick. Don't have any idea where you're coming
from.

Finding orphan articles and ones that are ignored for the most part, but
still part of your niche, is a fantastic way to get a link up. The key is
to fly under the radar.

Submitting to google is a lousy idea. Nobody should ever submit anything
to google.

Paul

It's already on my google webmaster tools profile; is that enough to get it indexed?

I always advice adding your site to Google index then submitting your sitemap making it easier for your site to be indexed then you should build high quality backlinks to your sites, in this post-panda world, wiki and social network backlinks pass a lot of link juice

Don't submit your website to Google!

Think about it from a search engines perspective. Would they rather index and subsequently rank a website that's been submitted to THEM or one that they happened to come across while crawling the internet?

Obviously the latter. The search engines now KNOW that you are proactively trying to rank a website since you've submitted it.

Don't draw unneeded attention to your site.

Just throw a link up in your signature on this forum. That'll get it crawled almost immediately.

I answered an advert in May, and bought into a product designed to make money from Google Adsense. The vendor assured me he already used these processes to make a lot of money on Adsense and to be fair I actually learned a lot of good SEO site building technique and produced a nice looking website with unique, good quality content, highly optimized towards the acne cure/remedy industry. It has auto blogging content (tuned down) and is linked in with around 30 social media sites. The site carries Google ads and has been live for about 4 weeks now. At the start it ranked around 1.5 million in the world and is now at around 985,000 ish. Trouble is there is still little or no traffic and very disappointing in terms of revenue. I had heard that Google treats new sites with some suspicion and wondered if my experience was the norm. I should also mention that I am aiming at a quality site and add new pages every couple of days. By the time its finished it should have 40 plus pages of content and 10 pages with all the disclaimers and privacy etc. I'd appreciate some comment on anything I'm doing wrong here.

Without more details, its hard to say specifically what you are doing wrong. With that said, here's a few things I'd check:

Double check your CPC with Google's new Contextual Targeting tool. It gives you CPC for the content network, as opposed to the search network. You want at least a $1 CPC.

Check that your advertiser competition bar is at least 50% the way accross.

Check that your local exact search volume for your keyword is at least 1000 per month. While you are at it, make sure all your additional content is SEO'd for related keywords.

If you are doing any auto-blogging, turn it off and remove the posts.

Change to make sure your ad placement is optimized. I blogged about this a few posts ago, so hit my sig link and look back about 3 posts - it was titled, "Adsense Experiment 001: How I Boosted My Adsense Income 35% in One Day"

If you got all the above right, then make sure you are following a sound link building strategy that includes social bookmarks, article marketing, RSS, and some blog comments.

Hope that helps. If not, I have a WSO that offers coaching that you might want to check out. Click here to see it.
