To start with, test the following:

- I would have the video auto play when page loads
- Cloak the ugly clickbank affiliate link with either a url shortener or plugin
- Have a pop up optin form for your free ebook
- Put the optin form in the sidebar, instead of having to click through to it

Any ideas on any good pop-up plugins? As i only had rubbish ones that reduced my visitors times.
I use mail chimp as an autoresponder ...an that is why i havent added the opt in in the side bar ...as their design is rubbish...their feature kind of forces you to create a new page where you create an opt in form ...im thinking of changing it to aweber

What do you think of the overall placement of video, words, affiliate links? Is it intising to the reader?

Pop ups are a BIG turn off. Just ad the eBook picture and image in the top of the sidebar. Make it attractive.

I use pop up domination. Apart from that I have seen some on this forum floating around and I think Ed Dale was giving one away with the 30 day challenge.

In terms of placement of content, depends what you are trying to do. Are you trying to get the click through or the optin? Or are you trying to throw everything at the visitor and hopefully get something?

I have made some changes...what do you think ?

I am mainly trying to sell through the affiliate links. The mailing list is just a bonus

Change the 'subscribe' button (check out this post for ideas) and test which works best for you. And get that video auto-playing and links changed

I am not great at editing code and css to be honest. I have cloaked the links ...and i have also got the video auto-playing to see if conversions change.

If I was you I'd take the video out completely and make the front page a squeeze page. Make your own youtube video telling people to opt in for something awesome like "5 Killer Tips that Will Shred The Fat in 5 Days" or something like that. Make the whole front page geared to getting an email address like this old site of mine. It's pretty crappy compared to what I do now but it still gets tons of opt ins everyday.

You can use camstudio with open office if you want to do it all for free.

Get them into your funnel and feed them bite sized chunks of info tailormade for solving their problem *AND* keep prompting them to interact with you. Say something like:

"What's holding you back from shedding the weight? Hit reply to this email right now, explain where you're struggling and I'll help you out."

And also,

In every email hit their hot buttons like crazy. Use stories and and emotive language to make an emotional connection with your prospects. Have a look at this post on persuasion - it may help.

The diet niche is a tough nut to crack. So many scams have made people very wary of making a purchase so you MUST build trust or you wont get high conversions.

Hope it helps,

Jimmy

I would switch to Aweber or any autoresponder other than mailchimp before anything else. Affiliate marketing is against their rules, Part 1, 11 F.

I would do couple of things.

1. First of all I would add some buttons to let people share it on facebook, twitter, google+, etc. You can use sexybookmark plugin to do that.

2. You have the optin form on the right but it's not above the fold, I would get it up so that visitors can view it without scrolling it down.

3. I don't know if you have done this on purpose of what but the banner on the right links back to your homepage...I would rather link to some affiliate offer or simply remove it to get the optin form up. Hope this help

I was thinking of converting it to a squeeze page ...but i prefer monetising it through the affiliate links and the mailing list as a second option. What do you fink works best? Making sales from the affiliate links on the site ..or email marketing?

It just doesn't make good business sense to do it that way. Essentially you are selling a high priced PDF, so people will take some serious convincing.

I just don't see you making any real money without building the relationship more.

It would be different if you were selling Amazon products. No opt in needed because you push your traffic over to Amazon (through your links) and Amazon does the rest. They've spent millions on getting their customers to feel happy, relaxed, safe and secure while on their site. But most clickbank pages are not up to the job.

IMO, the hardest part of IM is conversions. Work hardest on your conversions. Most people think that traffic is the magic secret but I've had sites with 400 uniques per day that only made $100 per month, untill I worked on conversions and took them to over $1000 per month.

Hope that helps,

Jimmy

It does make sense what you are saying. I guess I am so used to promoting physical products... Maybe I should use this tactic for digital products. I will make changes soon. Thank you very much. Would you advice any email sequence?

Your advice is much appreciated!

I usually buy the product and then take some important info out of it and then write something like:

In The Diet Solution, Dr Jane Smith lays out 20 important facts you must know in order to successfully lose weight. 1 of those facts is XYZ and that's what I'm going to talk about today.

[talk about whatever it is]

"So doing this will help you . . . [list benefits / hot buttons]"

"Don't forget you can check out the other 19 facts here [link]"

Here to help,

Mary Sue

P.S. Tomorrow I'll share with you a little secret that has proved to be 80% effective in clinical weight loss trials so make sure you look out for that.

I usually do it as a 5 day e-course with an email each day and then 1 per week after that. Just make each one pass on some useful info.

Jimmy

Thanks a lot! I will implement those tips. What do you think of the page now? Should it convert well?

Looks good now. But I think yesterday you only had email field in the opt in form and today you have included the name field..

I would go ahead and ditch the name field and only use email and they should increase the optin.

My autoresponder doesn't allow me to do that. Would you change anything else though ? Or is it fine like this?

I think your going about the affliate sale backwards (IMO).

I would do it in this order:

1) Get the email optin. (create something free to get the optin). Don't worry about the affliate sale yet.

2) Use an autoresponder, send out a couple of free tips related to the affliate product subject.

3) Send out the affliate product email on the 3rd autoresponder email.

4) Repeat steps 2 & 3 above, send out an affliate offer every 3rd email (3 emails max per week).

Try & have as many similar/related affliate offers lined up, one per week. So 8 similar affliate products would be enough for 2 months (8 weeks) worth of autoresponder emails.

Don't forget the free content in between offers, that's the key to help keep them on your list.

Keep the emails short & simple with good free content/tips.

Thanks for the advice. I will use this techqnique. I guess I am to used with SEO clients and also promoting physical products, where it works totally different.

I will use this strategy for all my sites where I promote digital products!

A lot of times a single optin may not buy anything for a few months, the day they land on your website may just be research they were doing.

If you have the email optin, you stand a better chance of catching them when they are in a buying mood, rather than not collecting the email & letting them only have a single chance of seeing one affliate offer.

An optin list will also help weed out all the affliate products that buyers don't care about, that's good data to have a year from now.

Don't forget about the free content in between offers. If you only send affliate emails the optin will bail from your list because they will get sick of all the affliate products being pushed in their face (emails).

Once you get your email list established, look into creating your own similar product focused on whatever it is your list is looking for, that way you get 100% of the profit instead of an affliate percentage.
