Yes if your videos are getting alot of visits, youtube pays even better than using adsense on article web sites.

I had youtube send me revenue share opportunities on a few of my popular videos and then I applied for partnership and now run ads on all of my videos. Even though I have a lot of subbies and over 170 videos I'm still not making a whole lot of money. Youtube takes so much out. I mainly use youtube for driving traffic to my blogs.

I replaced my Youtube user name with YTname,

Dear YTname,

I wasn't trying to earn anything with the videos hosted on Youtube, so anything is better than nothing.

They said it would take up to 3-4 days before Ads started showing, actually took like 20 min., maybe since I already had an Adsense account for the last 5 years?

I had that before with copywrited content...(tv show clip)...I declined since it wasn't my content. Once it hit 10 or 15,000 views, I was invited. If I remember correctly...

Yea, you can't use other peoples content, Youtube makes that very clear.

Most of my videos are software tutorials, I own the software, so I'm ok.

I signed up for the monetization 2 weeks ago and still havent heard anything? Any idea what would take so long?

The only two things I can think of that might slow things down would be:

1) You don't have rights to the video and/or audio.

2) You don't already have an Adsense account.

I have both.... They even had the little "notice" on the upper left of the channel " make money off xyz vid... sign up here"

One of my videos got in almost a year ago and it's made me maybe $15. Which ain't bad for a crappy quality 4 year old video shot with my digital camera.
