Role of social bookmarking in web promotion

Kindly tell me that what role does social bookmarking plays in the promotion of website.

I personally use social bookmarking to get my sites indexed quick.

So for instance, when i put a new niche blog up.. Instead of waiting a week or more to be indexed, i can get indexed in less than a few hours.

It also works well as link juice. (whether their pointed at your money site or tier whatever)

Lastly, if you have really good content, it's a great way to get it going viral.

Getting sites or pages indexed, and, as the name suggests, simply bookmarking them on social sites. The backlinks certainly don't hurt, either.
