My Pool site http://www.simplepoolcare.com is receiving a small amount of traffic at the moment. Have you ever heard of anyone taking a .com website and then rewriting the content and launching the rewritten website onto a local domain such as .co.uk or .co.za (South African). Do you think this will work, or will it just hurt both sites? Thanks |

Could you not just buy those other domains and put a 301 redirect on so that whichever address someone types in you end up on the same website? Or does it not work like that...? |

I think the first site will be ok but the second site will be hit by duplicate content penalty. You can use Mrs S strategy above or you can put links to these new sites. I would suggest putting new content and not using the same content. |

I mean completely rewriting the content and then making sure it is ok by checking it through www.copyscape.com Will this work? |

Fresh content and a new site....I see no problems with it. Appears you are trying to corner the market locally in certain areas. As long as the content is fresh you should have no issue with duplicate content penalties. Cheers |

Missed you. IMHO, having two websites will mean extra work for you in trying to make both of them rank. You also will have to promote the local domain from scratch. So the decision will heavily depend on the market you are targeting. If its a local market redirecting the entire main website to the new local domain will be a good option. If you target the global audience then stick to the website you have. Single goal, more focus will eventually equate to success. |

I agree with Mrs S on this one... purchase the domains and just create a redirect... that way there is no fussing with content and no worries about duplicate content. Because you own the domain you can create a permanent redirect (rather than a temporary redirect which is suitable for redirection to affiliate pages) |
