Default "-" vs. no "-" SEO point of view !?

From SEO point of view how much do you think a "-" in the domain name influences his rankings? I know that no "-" is better but I want to know with how much .

I don't think it's that big of a deal. It's very hard in many niches to get a domain without the hyphen.

Yeah not much.

Domains are a permanent thing, SE algorithms are constantly changing - Don't worry yourself too much over the domain if you are in it for the long haul.

Domain keywords and tricks that work well now may not work next year, and vice versa.

There are a lot more important things to be thinging of instead of procrastinating over a domain name.

Something short and catchy is always good (better than keyword domains in my opinion).

Thank you !! I have a 300K exact searched keyword domain with "-" and I was wondering if the "-" would drag me down .

Yeah it's easy to get too caught in factors that are of small influence. EMDs are over-rated. Google understand different tenses and plurality and I doubt the addition of hyphens matters much as well. Also, you can't even write content without using LSI keywords Google expects, and even synonyms rank for each other. Do a query for "~guide" and you'll see that "map" and "help" get bolded in the SERPs too. Exact matching misses the big picture.

The real place that it matters is with niches that could gain backlinks naturally.

I have a site in which I own the premiere .COM domain in the niche. Before I EVER built the site I had people linking to it thinking I was the .NET who had an active website.

By the time I launched my site, natural links came pouring in. Had I had any other variation or TLD I most likely would not have the rankings I have today and I sure as heck wouldn't have the traffic either.

If possible, spend extra for the .COM, its probably worth it in the long run.

You'll be fine. Look at case-mate.com for example. They're not suffering much. Lol

I've ranked many pages with and without -s in the URL v. One I'm working on now is All about Charlotte Plastic Surgery, the best Plastic Surgeons in Charlotte. It's at the bottom of page 1 and slowly rising for my main phrase. Good luck!! :-D

Domain name without "-" is good option. But if you're not getting then you can choose domain name with hyphen as well.

Correct, I mean it's better SOUNDING AND LOOKING if you DON'T have it, but if you HAVE to have it, it's not bad

It's just easier to say website dot com as opposed to web dash site dot com

The hyphen will barely make a difference. If your domain contains more than 3 words, I'd almost recommend it.
