Hi, i have someting important to share with you guyz. Profile links are not working! Now this is negative ranking factor! But don't worry, we can still use backinks from profiles but we have to be a little bit smarter. How google knows, when this is an profile backlink or not? It's easy - content. Profile links have only links, without content. Solution? Add content to your profile backlinks (Bio, about me, etc.) I was doing it all the time, i know, google loves content, and i had no problems with this Panda Update. A lot of sites goes down, because they has a lot "spam" backlinks, without content, thats mean now, without value. If you dont believe me, try to add a lot of this spam backlinks, and watch your sites go down or even kicked from serp. Have a nice day! Pablo Mames |

I believe the reason spam backlinks get you sand boxed is because of the anchor text spam, not the backlinks themselves. Make 10-20% of your links with generic anchortext like www.yoursite.com or click here, additional info, etc, and I don't think you'll see the same decrease in rankings.

Your title and post make some serious blanket statements. Do you have any proof to offer? Specifically I mean the allegation that they can negatively affect ranking, Google usually avoind penalties for off page factors so as not to penalize someone incorrectly.

Nice post. Google is after content and profile links (maybe forum links like mine below) are being discounted.

I am definitely starting to think so too. My rankings have not been improving after adding profile links like they once were.

You don't know what your talking about! ![]() Anytime you add a large number of backlinks (doesn't matter If it's a profile) your site will bounce in the SERPs. It's been like this for years...

| This is what Mike B. wrote: "Google Recently changed profiles into a negative ranking factor. I've seen 5-10 client sites lower in rankings after this update, then rise back up after the thousands of profiles on each site were deleted manually. Google sees pages with a link but no content to be webspam, and they are now treating links from those pages NEGATIVELY." |

| Lol But google change, now its the time for profiles. Anyway, i'm not trying to say "Im smart, i know". But this is the information i get from different sources. And i will keep creating profiles with content. And i just recommend that. Anyway, backlinks from pages with content have more value than without it.

Listen - if you are gonna waste time building these type of links, don't build them to your money site. Profiles are great to help aid in indexing OTHER backlinks that Google may have not found yet. They are also great to help pass along the link juice to other assets. Don't get caught up in linking your money site with profile links, especially if you are MANUALLY creating them. Outsource this! Remember, work smarter not harder. |

Agree with Rev. Profile links in large quantities should help index other links pointing to your site. Maybe even give them a little boost. But creating a handful of them manually isn't going to do much. You'd need to outsource or use software to see any results. (IMO) |

You are right rev, but remember, you can have different profile backlinks, with different quality, on high authority sites, do/nofollow with unique text on bio etc. So you can make your profile looks like article page On "angela's" websites you can add sometimes up to 3k caracters, you can past your article there. Ofc, from article directories have more value, but on profiles you dont have human filters checking your content. So well, you can spam a little bit |

I dont think it is negative ranking factor. Profile links may not have any value, but they should not cause any harm. Had it been so, people would create profile links of competition sites and there goes the ranking of those sites |

I don't think profile links alone are going to be looked upon as a negative factor. It is my belief that Google just might not give as much VALUE for these links anymore but they are not useless.

This can be true too, because in that case we could send backlinks for our competition (dont do that -.-) But google can penalize your site lets say... for too much backlinks in short time (for new domains), so we can do it fo other websites. This is pretty complicated.

Most of the profiles are just made to drop links and nothing else. I have seen many websites go down which were ONLY using profile links with no content. However there are many other sites which used content in the profiles and got links from other places as well. Those websites are steadily increasing in rankings. Just saying..

I used them for years and loved them for easy ranking but after Panda, they've had nothing but a negative affect on my rankings so as a result, I've stopped using them James |

If there is any negative side effects of profile backlinks, I would give up my job, sitting behind my laptop all days and nights, and create backlink profile for my customer's competitors. |

Nobody knows for sure, how google deal with such cases. People guess. However If you still get the results in that way, go with them. Goodluck!

There is always one rule. Negative seo side effect, Black hat seo, and getting penalized are not that achieved by outsite seo. This is enough sensical. One can not harm another site by outsite seo. Don't get me wrong. I believe google has dozens of spam filters which are ignoring spamming, low quality backlinks, and etc. But that's another story. Backlinks themselves can not be harmful if they are not useful. Let the google spam filters decide which is counted and which is not counted.

| Same here james. I'm also doing this profile links and of course putting the details as what the post thread trying to say about bio, name etc before. And I'm getting a good result before but now since PANDA came out, I didn't see any result for 1 month of doing the profile links. So decided to stop it.

One SEO project I've just inherited had its entire linking strategy based on Angela & Paul Links. The site was ranking well and according to the owners, dropped significantly in search ranking about 12 or 18 months ago to a point where their web traffic was almost zero. Deleting the profile links and then rebuilding their links with others, they rebounded to the top 3 pages in Google. With a complete redesign of their site, they rank in the top 3 for their 3 main keyword areas. Was it entirely profile links that caused this? Probably not, but I can certainly say having these spammed links didn't help any! |

This thread is just completely false. Profile links still hold plenty of weight especially if you know how to use them.

To my recent experience in the past 15 days, I think profile links could be negative factors that get your site penalized for a while. I use profile links quite some time, when I start a campaign with hundreds of profile links build, normally after 4 to 5 days I'll see some boost in rank or at least the rank strength on the position. But for the past 15 days, I have two campaigns that created total about 1,800 profiles, but after some days, I lost rank (from page 2 to nowhere) for the keyword I target for. All the profile links built were blank pages with link only. Probably more people will report profile link result later. |
