is Google keyword tool accurate?

Hi All,
I have a question about Google keyword tool

when I go to Google.com and I type a keyword
I see a list of suggestions for this keyword in the google search shown as dropdown (look at the attachment)

BUT
when you take all these keywords and put them in Google keywords tool
and select EXACT search
you see they have -- under searches

how is that ?

if they are suggested by Google so there must be significant searches ??

I've always thought the keyword tool was fairly broad. If you want an exact # of searches you could create a terrible Adwords ad and see how many people are searching for the term you're targeting over the span of a few days. Just make sure you don't give anyone a reason to click on your ad.

The keyword tool is not really accurate, but that is the best tool for Google.com. Google wants to make money also, so they have to make a tool that is likely accurate for their site.

What's more some other kword research tools show results according to GKT. So it must be the source, and the most accurate tool.

The search feature you are talking about is the Autocomplete feature.

How autocomplete works

As you type, Google's algorithm predicts and displays search queries based on other users' search activities. In addition, if you're signed in to your Google Account and have Web History enabled, you may see search queries from relevant searches that you've done in the past. All of the predicted queries that are shown in the drop-down list have been typed previously by Google users.

For certain queries, Google will show separate predictions for just the last few words. Below the word that you're typing in the search box, you'll see a smaller drop-down list containing predictions based only on the last words of your query. While each prediction shown in the drop-down list has been typed before by Google users, the combination of your primary text along with the completion may be unique.

Predicted queries are algorithmically determined based on a number of purely objective factors (including popularity of search terms) without human intervention. The autocomplete data is updated frequently to offer fresh and rising search queries.

As noted in the above quote, some autocomplete predictions are derived from a combination of previous searches and may comprise a unique term that has no recent search history.

no it's not accurate, it just gives you a hint..

Nothing is certain. I have seen some inconsistencies in results, but it is still worth the time. I like to check many different sources.

these will give you a good idea of how many actual visitors the top page is getting, and what the demographics are

Actually it gives you no hint, just accurate historical data. Here's a "hint", If you haven't got a clue, accurate data is going to help you.
