Hi I have now 100+ comments pending approval on my website that people have left over time. 99% of them are (in short) "I like your post, nice site" + their website in the URL/Anchor text. A bunch are clearly from "competitors" with similar keywords to mine. But then others are from totally unrelated websites. Should I approve or ignore these comments? I read here that Google likes comment activity, but I also read that they "steal" PR juice. Thanks for your advice. |

Delete every single last one. I am soooo sick of comment spam - I would NEVER publish a single one of those weasly comments. |

I would recommend using Akismet on Wordpress because it will send all the spam comments to spam folder and I don't even bother about spam comments. If you are not using, then you need to look for the legit ones from the spam! Delete all the short comments because they are spam. I guess it is your early blogging career and you might be excited to see people praising your blog. Take a deep breath and delete all these fake appraisers. Lawrence |

Most of them are spam by using a bot. Allowing a lot of spam, you must be aware of your own bandwidth. Every time they spam. They consume your bandwidth. =_=! |

Sounds like you have a lot of spam comments... As others have suggested, install an anti-spam plugin like Akismet, or try a FaceBook login plugin like Simple Facebook Connect, or even something like Discus. You can also require only registered users to be able to comment, which will also reduce your spam tremendously. I take any of the borderline cases, and strip the URL, and publish the comment. And obviously, I approve the valid comments, and respond to EVERY LAST LEGIT COMMENT, so that I can get real conversation going. Hope that helps. Matt |

It should be spam comments from scrape box blasts - doesn't do any good for your site. If there is no relevant keywords just delete it

Comments that are not helpful or you feel that they are spams, delete those comments. It will just waste the content of the forums since most of them as you have mentioned are just short or one-liner. People prefer to read comments from real people. Just delete the comments of spammers and approve quality comments that are helpful to the discussion.

These are spam comments, i suggest you go through everything and determine which ones are spam comments and which ones are helpful comments. You also need to engage your visitors by way of displaying "helpful" comments.
