I know the importance of a good domain name. But most of the time when I am looking to buy up sites, they dont necessary come with good domain names. they may have good attributes such as high PR, good traffic stars and maybe even good income but awful domain names. So question is, can I overlook the poor domain factor if other attributes are good? Will the domains have a huge impact to SEO? |

Domain doesn't play as big a factor as it use to. It helps but you still do it without a exact domain. James |

You yourself said that the websites have good PR and traffic and revenue without good domain name. So it proves domain is not important for SEO.

I think you answered your own question, you say that the website is getting good traffic and if that is from the SE's then I wouldn't be worried about the name itself aslong as the terms its being found for are relevant.

It's important for small, micro niche sites at the begining. If you have a keyword in domain it will be a bit easier to rank for that keyword. But as domain gets older, this boost gets less significant.

Good question! In some niches, the domain name does matter and not so in others. I've also seen .info and .net domains doing extremely well compared to .com I guess it all boils down to doing good SEO to the site and having good quality content on your site, as well as being original. |

I think domain name is not a great factor. Domain names with keyword may help for ranking in search result, but it is not mandatory. If you know proper technique of search engine optimization then you will be able to rank any type of domain. With proper technique and hard work it is possible to rank any domain.

Domain name does play a role in SEO and Marketing, in terms of SEO if your domain name utilizes one of your main keywords then you get the chance to rank high in that particular keyword (provided you do other optimization techniques of course). In marketing well just remember that people do not easily remember websites with long domain names and cases are if they dont remember they will be searching via search engines and if you are not ranked in the first page chances are you are giving away a potential customer to your competitor.

Domain name will play major role in SEO. Users also very interested in domain name only. Most of the users never read the description. If domain name is one your main keyword that will be very helpful for your blog.

In my opinion, the domain name is still very important for good SEO. So yes. But you can still be number 1 without the best domain name of cause.

It doesn't much affect your SEO. Results still depends on your SEO Campaign. One example is this forum. It's in #3 position in the 1st page of Google for the keyword internet marketing forum. |
