Hi All, Coming straight to the point: I have found two domains which are exact match for two distinct keywords. But, those are not .com, but one is .org and the other is .net. Now, the CPC, according to MS, are around $18. However, the search volumes are low as Exact Global Searches per month are around 300-400. Competition is around 300,000 pages for both. Now, my question is should I buy these domains? Even if I should, then what to do with these? Build a site or just try to resell at a higher price? Looking forward to your responses. N.B. If this is not the correct category to post this, please move it to the appropriate category. |

Quick thoughts... Even though the CPC is quite high, the exact searches are not high enough to excite a potential buyer who will buy just based on the domain itself. If the competition is very low or non-existent, it won't hurt you to build a site around it. A couple hundred searches a month on an $18 CPC term won't hurt anyone, ![]() Kingsley |

true competition! I know, that's what lots of the books say and we had all been suckered into this in the past.. But the true ways, among others, include checking the top 10 results in the search engines, to see how many backlinks they have and of course the quality of the backlinks. If the number (and sometimes, quality) of the backlinks are not that high, then that's sign of low competition. Kingsley | |

why not? EMDs are always an asset even if traffic is relatively low.

| How is this relevant to you? Would you rather compete for a keyword with only 10,000 SERP's listings of which the whole of the first page comprises age-old authority sites each with thousands of backlinks from other age-old authority sites, or for a keyword with 300,000 listings of which the first page comprise directory articles and stuff you can overtake in 48 hours? When I'm thinking about the keywords for which I might/will compete with a potential new site, I have only 5 competitors, and those are numbers 1 - 5 in Google's SERP's for the keyword. It makes no difference to me whether they're followed by 995 other sites or by 9,999,995. It seems to me that SEO is mostly about relevance and quality, not so much about quantitative approaches. Honestly I wouldn't bother. Even ranked at number one, you would get a little less than half of the traffic that searches the term. So around 150-200. However you said that's the global results, which aren't always reliable. Also an $18 CPC might sound really good but the chances are you will make a fraction of that. Just my thoughts |

I don't intend to make any site, but reselling the domain would work best for me. However, if making a site yields more profits, I will just do that. Quote:

search for the keyword in Google, If you see .com with exact phrase then don't buy .. if its not there, then buy .org or .net and create a website on it.
