Hey guys, I'm new to the forums here and had a few questions regarding backlinks and blogging. If you guys could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. I am in a sports trophy business and can't seems to relate to websites to try to post backlinks on. Ontop of that, I am not sure what to blog about as this industry is basically self explanatory and not really discussed by many companies or organizations. Does anyone have any ideas? |

As far as backlinks go, any site/page that includes the keyword sport would be good. Blogging, I would brag about every single job your trophy site gets. If you provide trophies to a youth baseball team, mention the team, what trophy they bought, did they win the last game that you provided trophies for, etc... Link out to a few teams that you provided trophies for. Comment on other team sites that may not know about your site & what you have to offer. Maybe you can get the new teams a better deal next season on their trophies? Mention every single type of trophy you sell, each trophy type is a new blog page. Be as detailed as possible, about everything you do & include good looking images of the trophies. |

If your making the trophies, another idea is to create a few videos of the process of actually making the trophies, then upload the new videos to youtube. That will give you another blog post that you can embed the youtube video into. Just make sure your video includes the name/url of your trophy site. Again, If your actually creating the trophies (name plate engraving, etc...) I would shoot a short video clip for each team, they might get a kick out of it If you promote their team name in the blog post/video, which could bring in repeat orders every season. A blog category for each team/order would be a good idea. Keep the world updated that all of these teams are buying your trophies, year after year. Helps build trust for new customers.

Yukon, Yeah that is another great idea. We actually created two new trophies that will only be sold by us, one basketball, one football and well have to compete with the giants in the trophy industry, which may be too tall of a task. Some of the giants have 20,000++ backlinks which blows my mind in such a targeted industry such as this one. Again I really do appreciate your help with this. If you or anyone else can think of anything, I greatly would appreciate it. Thank you again, Yukon! |

That, and good on-page seo will help your site move up the SERPs (search engine results pages). You might have some luck with Facebook? I'm not sure If teams build pages or not, might be a good idea to look into that for new business?

Yukon, Thanks for the tip. (as I'm sure you can tell I'm a newbie) I'll have to do some more SEO research in order to see how the trophy industry competition rounds out and how hard it would be to rank in the top 3 or so Yeah we will be acquiring a facebook and twitter accounts to just get the word out to the public. |

Jawad, Yes this is helpful information to us, thank you. We recently acquired a domain without content that is nearly 9 years old. Will this help I'm any way shape or form in terms of SEO? |

Another factor that would come into play would be if there are backlinks still coming to that domain. Listen to what Matt Cutts says in this video - This is a great explanation.
