Asking users to share your content

How do you guys go about asking users to share your content? Since social is seemingly taking a bigger role in SEO now, I would like to think of ways to increase shares on my sites. I know that there is a plugin that asks users to share my content at the end of every article....but I forgot what that plugin is called. However, what ways are you guys going about asking users to share your content?

Take a look at the Linkback menu in this thread for an example!

There is AddThis, ShareThis, and AddToAny to name just a few.

we like SexyBookmarks and will soon release our own sharing plugin which is even cuter than that

A good call to action at the end of the content along with an easy way for them to share, such as the previously mentioned tools. That will go a long way to getting more shares.

You can also try and incentivize shares with some sort of contest or giveaway.

Quite agree with everything guys said about adding share buttons and adding call to action. Additionally, work on developing your twitter account:
1. Find like-minded users in your niche and follow their twitter accounts. Most of them will follow back.
2. Tweet the new content of those who you follow on a regular basis.
3. Get back to those who tweets your content personally to thank them - thus you'll create a loyal following.
