For backlinks and blog posts is it better to do a RSS, Social Bookmark, Index, and/or ping?

Think you might be a bit confused. RSS submission and social bookmarking are methods of indexation to get your backlinks or posts or whatever indexed. Pinging them simply tells the search engine spiders to come crawl the page or post.

Do everything, the more range of backlinks and crawl sources, the better.

I understand the difference, but I see different opinions on what to do so I posed the question. With that said, do you do everything or just a select few?

After posting to the blog I do that:

1- ping
2- bookmark
3- post on social blogs (blogger, tumblr, wpress) to get some backlinks
4- send one spun article to 5, 6 high PR article directories to get more backlinks

For important, high quality backlinks that you acquire, do all of the above to increase the link juice and make sure they get indexed. Look into SocialBot from Incansoft, Linklicious (for pinging), Backlink Energizer, and RSSbot from Incansoft.

I'm not familiar with Linklicious or Backlink Energizer. Do you use both? What type of luck are you having with them?

Yes, Linklicious has a free account option with the ability to upgrade and BLE is a one-time 37 bucks or so, well worth it. They greatly improve the crawl and subsequent indexing rates of my backlinks.

Just put your links in linklicious and let it worry about pinging them..it will be automated...so you just put them in and forget about them, then start building more links.

Linklicious will get them crawled and getting them crawled will boost your SERPS..don't worry about getting them indexed...that will happen naturally for a lot of them but shouldn't be your focus.

Don't waste your time worrying about something you cant even get an accurate answer on and that isn't needed to increase your SERPS. Indexing HELPS your SERPS..it isn't required...worry about things that are required like "Getting your links crawled".
