My site is about 5 days old and it's been indexed but still hasn't been ranked. How long does it usually take for a site to get ranked? My other site got ranked in 5 days.

Really depends upon your content, and competition. Depending on keyword, it could take weeks to have it rank about 100... There are methods to getting this completed alot faster, and that will require tools, and good ol'fashioned elbow grease. Traffic is key, as well as content. |

5 days is not long, keep working at it. Also make sure you're not only building backlinks but your website itself is SEO optimized for the keywords you're trying to rank for. |

Which structure are you using to build your links, I definitely recommend "Feed the Panda" structure, it's best for mini niche sites now

The ones that get ranked (on first page) are either lucky and have a low competition key word, and or they have worked real hard at getting back links. You need to make sure that your on page SEO is good and back link until you get your site on the first page, above the fold. Being ranked below position 5 will not get you much traffic as the traffic usually falls off very quickly. The first position gets about twice as much of the clicks as the second position, and it goes down from there. |

Hi raxr, I tend to take it slow with sites that young. Focus on adding relevant content to the site that "real people" want to read and you will be steps ahead of your competition. When I do start my back-linking campaign, I try to balance it out with adding new content. How long does it take to get ranked? That's different for every keyword and niche. Good luck on your new campaign, Alan |

It's different for every keyword, every niche, every piece of content etc. If was easy to get ranked on the first page, we wouldn't be here on this forum looking at ways to get ranked! |

What ever keywords you are using, make sure that you get your back links. There is nothing like SEO to get you noticed by the search engines. Make sure that your site has unique content that is keyword rich but not spammy.

it's going to depend on your competition in the serps a lot too. If you have an exact match domain then you should be able to rank pretty quickly.

wow that is a very general question....there are many things that I would need to know before I even can make an estimate...The time it takes to rank in the top depends usually on the competition for the keyword and also how you set up your SEO strategy...Good luck.

Still not ranked... when I search for the domain itself though, its pages are in the top 5... I guess this means I'm sandboxed and will have to wait a few weeks or months before my site starts ranking |

1. Your site is too new & enjoy the sandbox. 2. Cr@p links. Google did a smack down on link farms (Farmer/Panda update). 3. Un-exciting info. I've had clients fresh domains getting indexed within days of the launch. But... we do extensive research & none of our writers are allowed to use the Internet for research. Tape recorder & get the client talking about their business is the way to go. - We work with Tier 2 & 3 manufacturers. Crazy competitive industries. Just my ideas without knowing the full story ![]() I feel your pain! Good luck!

So how are you drawing the conclusion that you are sandboxed? Just because you're not ranking high for other keyword phrases that you are targeting after like 5 or 7 days? Ah, that's called normal. SEO is not that easy if you're picking keyword phrases that are at all competitive.

Hi Guys, I think I'm having the same problem as raxr. However, when my site (Wordpress blog) first got indexed by Google it went straight up to #3 on the first page for my keyword. But now has just completely disappeared. It is still indexed as when I search for my URL it appears, but is nowhere to by seen on any page when searching for my keyword. I also have the rank checker from seobook installed at that cannot find my site on google. This has actually happened to 2 of my sites now and I don't know why seen as they used to both be ranked on the first page. The site in question was ranked for a fairly uncompetitive keyword that gets about 2000 searches per month (globally). My content is pretty high. I use my main keyword sparingly and try to include as many LSI keywords as possible when appropriate. Any advise anyone could give me would be great! Thanks Rob |

Well you need to have some patient. Just on a crawl your site wont get rank because there are several sites on web And to get rank go for on page optimization. set Meta-Data, put unique and fresh content to know better about onpage optimization for your site set Webmaster to your site where you will get the html suggestion for your site. These are some basic points to get on rank else you need to really work hard.

Every site is different. One thing that we do with those that are going to open a new website is to buy the domain as soon as possible, publish it with a CGI bin, or blank page, so the Google bot will crawl the site. We have been successful with getting a site with no content, indexed, and a PR three.

Sorry to hear about that - know it's disappointing to see your rankings drop. Sometimes you can't put too much stock though in those initial rankings when your site is new as rankings will tend to bounce around a bit I've noticed for at least the following: 1)new site 2)after you've done extensive work on your site (especially if you reorganized URLS and such - really need to be careful to put in redirects if changing URLs so you don't lose any "credit" that URL held 3) After doing some backlink building - need at least 2 weeks for things to settle in and backlinks start to get indexed before you can make any real judgement of impacts 4) Google algorithm updates (ex., the recent "Panda" one) I'm sure others here can add to this list from their experience. Anyway - the real question is what can you do now, right? Lots of stuff but I'll throw out a few: 1) Make sure you have applied for and are using google webmaster tools for your stie - can gain lots of good ideas about google's view of your site there including more indexed backinks than they'll ever show using link: command 2) Make sure you have a good SEO plugin you're using for WordPress, learn all it can do, and use it consistently as suggested. I'm sure there are lots, but I'll throw out 3 free ones that I know are good from personal experirence: - All in One SEO Pack - Platinum SEO - Yoast SEO Plugin All have good instructions, blog articles, etc. Not going to go into debating pros/cons of each - save it for another thread and honestly don't waste too much time analyzing which, get one and act. 3) Analyze your competition - how many backlinks they have vs. you, PR of their backlinks, on page SEO vs yours. Again, lots of tools, some free some paid. One free one for subset of that info is SEO for Firefox from seobook.com - tons of other options though. That will give you a good picture on how you stack up against your competition and why you rank where you do. Lots else could be done/said, but hey this isn't a WSO, right? ![]() Still tried to give you & others here some valuable free input - I do believe in Karma ![]() Phil

If your site is well optimized, you should start ranking in the top 10 pages in no less than two weeks after building your website and getting some backlinks pointing to it.

well,it really all depends. different sites, different keywords, different content, all things can cause different ranks time. and for your situation, i think 5 days is too short, what you need to do is keep update your content, especially high quality content. and make high quality links for your site. |

If your site is competing in low competition keyword, likelyhood it will be ranked faster than highly competitive keywords. Still it will be depended on your competitions as well. Best is to start promoting your website, building backlinks and be sure that your website is search engine optimized. When you promote, try to create backlinks which are relevant to your site and your site's contents |

The process of indexing and ranking differs from site to site. The site may get indexed in few days or may take more. Also the ranking of your site depend upon the competition of the keyword and the niche.
