Ranking a Classifieds Website

I want to start a classifieds website in a specific industry where users post items they have for sale but I'm not too sure of how to do SEO work for it. Would I have to rely on postings/classified ads in order to get my pages ranking? Content generation would be a bit difficult because it's in a very technical niche and I wouldn't be able to hire any standard article writer since articles in this industry have their own vocabulary. Ideally I would like to get the ads that users post ranking high as these are for products that have virtually no competition in the search engines. Has anyone ever had experience with this?
