What is alt text? Can’t you just rename the picture to the keyword that is relevant for that post? How do you insert alt text?

When uploading your photos in wordpress, there's a field for Alternate Text. I don't use the caption unless needed to explain the photo. Usually the text should be focus the article, the photo is just compliment it.

Alt tags describe images since search engine can't read images (although they've gotten better at it). Its also for blind people so they know what the image is about. Some says alt text like many other things isn't a factor anymore for on-page, some say it still is. It does hurt to use it, like it doesnt hurt use meta tags.

It looks like Clickbump SEO will take care of all of this for you, is that correct?
If you get Clickbump SEO do you still need Yoast?

If you get Clickbump, you don't need Yoast. It was updated recently, and has some nice features.

6) Use Breadcrumbs!!! Set your Permalinks to /%category%/%postname%/
What does the above in yellow mean?

Don't understand this one. using breadcrumbs *may* give you enhanced and additional links in Google. Personally, I've found them be very valuable. I recieved consistently more traffic on my sites with the same positions when Google blessed them with it.

9) REMOVE the word "category" from your WordPress base URL.

This is personal perference. I hate seeing the word "category" in the url. Both Yoast and Clickbump will nix this for you.

10) Each of my 5 categories have about 100-150 words describing the category before listing the posts.

Does this just mean you put a post at the top of the page explaining the category, and it stays there permanently? Dumb question, since I am sure it does, but just asking anyway?

When you go to edit Categories in wordpress, there's a section for Category description. I put it there.
Now whether or not its display depends on the theme. Most theme authors leave it out.

A quick Google found a guide on how to do it: Display Category Descriptions, Tag Descriptions and Author Bio's in Wordpress

Did you pay for this press release, or was it a free one? If it was a paid press release do you recommend a certain site for this?

3) Remember to make your categories index-able in whatever SEO plug-in you use, and use the excerpt instead of the_content in the template). For all link building to follow, it’s important to vary your anchor text.

What does index-able mean, and how do you do it?

What does the following mean; the excerpt instead of the_content in the template?

Some SEO plugins by default will tell Google NOT to index your categories so as to avoid duplicate content issues.

I recommend that you let them get indexed and you use the_excerpt instead of the the_content in the template for the categories. That way you avoid duplicate content issues, and you get additional indexed pages that will rank because your strong internal linking structure. "the_excerpt" and "the_content" are template tags used in wordpress themes to display content.

I do not see a #2, what does this mean?

Repeat point #2 - meaning repeat article submissions again with new content.

9) Do not build links with 1 or 2 anchor text alone. The rest were variations of the 20 other keywords, naked backlinks (backlinks without anchor text), click here, read more, visit this site, etc.

Does that mean that in each post you should have 3 to 5 different links out using different keywords?

No that was pertaining to external links pointing to the site and other layers. For internal links, its alright to use few keywords, if its only a few you're targeting.

Retsek:
re: the 20 additional posts - these are posts, not pages? And since you have 5 categories, you place 4 of these posts in each category and all of them are sticky?
Thanks.

Yep, the 20 are posts not pages. Some categories are bigger, so its not equally divided between categories. One category might only have 1 or 2 posts from the 20 post set.

Remember that the 100+ post set are also categorized into these 5 categories.

There is just one way, try to go for and gain backlinks from high PR websites of 6 and 7. Thats the only way you would be able to beat a website that has got a high page rank....

This is a great amazing post. What you get here is of more value than most WSO out there. This shows the kind of character you are, Now let just hope people will follow thru your steps with actions, even those with little of no money to start can always improvised this for less competitive term that will require less work and investments and scale up when they started making money or Flip the little sites for quick cashflow to be able to invest in the kind of scale you stated here.

All the best in the future.

retsek, this post is great, I've read it 5-10 times and have been implementing it on my site for the past couple months. I've been building the site from the ground up and following your outline as close as possible, my site got as high as 150 on Google within the first couple weeks but now it looks like it's been sandboxed because it dropped to around 450 and now hasnt gotten above 330's. My question is did you run into any sandboxing issues (or sudden massive drops in ranking) as you went through this process, if not do you have any recommendations for how to remedy this?

It simply means that internal linking can help us a lot in improving the rankings but at a same time, we need to work properly on building the backlinks naturally. The best point I liked is about over optimization. Everyone should keep this in mind or else a good ranking keywords may also drop down.

If it's a very new domain, you can expect that to happen for 3 months or more. You should vary your link text even more.
