An SEO plugin that I use encourages me to have at least one external link with my page's keyword as anchor text. However, if my site is an Amazon review site, wouldn't an external link somewhere else be confusing for the visitor, and give me less clickthroughs? I could have the external link with the keyword anchor text be an Amazon affiliate link, but I have also read that Google DOES NOT like affiliate links. Therefore, I cloak all my affiliate links so they don't look like external links - my SEO plugin doesn't count them as external links. Are these links still crawled as external links? What should I do? |

I would link the amazon review article to either the niche on Wikipedia or the company's website on Wikipedia. For example if you are reviewing a Pioneer flat panel tv I would link the company's name to the Wikipedia's company page for Pioneer. Authority links are good and I normally just use Wikipedia since you can find anything there and Google loves Wikipedia.

I think your plugin is full of crap, personally.
