Default Using stop words in titles

I have been reading today about the stop words that the search engines ignore and it got me to thinking whether my articles and blog posts could be somehow penalised if they had these stop words in the titles.

Any Thoughts?

Regards

Kim

No, they won't be penalized. Using stop words is normal and, if anything, shows that you're writing for users, not just SEs.

I love stop words.
Using stop words can really help in the search results if used correctly.
If you pay attention to these words they can give you long-tails that you haven't thought of. If it makes sense than Google likes you, If it makes no sense Google dislikes you. For instance Key-phrase: make money online.

Wrong way: a (stop word) make money online. Right way: Mr (stop word) make money online. Its really simple to do.

Hope that helps.

Title's show up in the serps, so you want to "sell the click" with a title (and desc) that will motive the searcher to click on your site.
Concern over stop words come more into play with domain names.

Stop words are great for article writing and SEO. Bolding, Italicizing, and Underlining your stop words can help with better ranking.

You might be confusing stop words with supporting keywords (or LSI).
Don't know what good it does to under line "the,is,at,..." unless it's part of the keywords phrase you are targeting.

Just make it look normal.

Using stop words shows you're writing for your users, not the search engines. It will make your writing seem much more natural.

Why would you want it to look anything but?

Not at all. I've used stop words before and never was penalized. Not that I know of anyway.

stop words are supposedly ignore by the SE but If you Google a phrase with eg "in" and without "in" you will get different results. You won't get penalize, just use where appropriate.

Just wondering why Google might penalize the word stop. Is it a bad word?
