Default Need help with Facebook ads, $383.58 spent with no results...

Hi all,

As mentioned I have spent $383.58 across 5 campaigns with absolutely no sales.

My main obj is to test if a clickbank product is viable for me to go deep into it...SEO and others. Just want to give it a test drive. I learned I shouldn't go too deep unless it's saleable on PPC networks first.

I am newbie btw.

Now that Adwords doesn't allow Clickbank links, I went to try out facebook.

I took me a while to understand targetting, so my first two campaign were pretty much goners. That was $153.31 gone.

My most recent campaign seems to work somewhat better. 163 clicks with 0.081% CTR.

But again no sales.

This campaign was testing a $247 product, could it be the price?

When I preview my ad, it Facebook displayed a "potentially abusive" warning...could this be a factor too?

Could use some advise...been using too much cash to "test drive" a product...

Thanks in advance.

Are you getting people onto your list with a freebie report or a useful free tool? Or are they just going to a sales page? Most times people will not buy the first time and must be "courted" by your awesomeness so to speak, especially for a large purchase.

Facebook is horrible for directly promoting Clickbank products. Especially at that price.

Firstly, are you targeting the right demographic?

Even if I was super interested in the product and it popped up while I was on Facebook I would probably click it, see what it's about, then visit a forum or review site and purchase it elsewhere.

In other words, it is hard to build up enough credibility through a FB ad to encourage people to spend $250 on the product you are promoting.

In Facebook, you are promoting to a demographic based on age, sex, location, interests, etc. So it is a great medium for capturing leads, not so much cold sales.

In Google Adwords, you aren't targeting specific demographics, but you are targeting people who type keywords into the search box. You can leverage this opportunity by putting your product in front of people LOOKING TO BUY, instead of just looking to play the latest FB game :P

Good luck with it.

Cheers,

Yea you can't use the same direct promotion copy of an Adwords campaign in Facebook ads, you are interrupting on Facebook, not matching a user's querry. A more soft, multi phase sales funnel may work better on Facebook.

I'm sure you know already, ads that land on facebook fan Pages are cheaper than off site linking. You might look at Fan Page traffic as being a bit analogous to building an email list, people who like our page will see your later posts pop up on their wall.

Facebook users are there to goof around, not to buy anything. I wouldn't bother with Clickbank products at all.

It sounds like you are really serious about learning how to do this so if that is the case, I'd suggest that you go back to AdSense, learn everything you can about it, and start over. Once you get the hang of that, you'll be golden. As you know, they hate CB products so you'll have to find something else.

If you actually browse through fan pages, you would find there are a number of irrelevant ads. Facebook either has a very low inventory of ads and that's why they cycle through the limited number of available but irrelevant ads or the ad targeting model is fundamentally flawed. In either case, I seriously doubt that advertising on Facebook is any more effective than other advertising options like paid search or contextual ads on traditional sites.
