Should I pay to list my website on manufacturing business directories or should I wait until my website is more SEO friendly and then pay to list it?

Depends how much your time is worth.

Probably better to avoid paid directories initially.

Yeah. Don't hit up the paid directories at all. You'll be better off with paid homepage links that you can get for about the same price. Only start going into paid directories when your business is doing well and you need a little extra push because you've exhausted most other manual methods.

Thanks for the replies guys I guess I won't pay yet I might later.

Now if I can only improve my sites SEO ill spend this whole weekend trying to learn more.

Don't waste your time with paid directories, a good majority may have PageRank and value from the homepage but don't have any true link value to pass along from the internal pages.

There are much better methods to pay for links and directories isn't one of them.

I would go as far and say that you should avoid any directories at all. Agreed, they can give a little benefit, but very little compared to many other methods.

Look into quality linkbuilding: Guest blogs, link baits ect.

I do not believe it is worth a paid directory unless you are going after super tough competition. In that case, every little bit helps. In 99% of cases I would say it is not worth it. Even once you decide to go with paid directories, you should be careful about which ones you are getting into.

Link directory links are not considered the best ones. I wouldn't pay them to get my site listed, instead I would find free ones.
