Default Questions About Url SEO

Hi, just a couple quick questions about domain name related SEO.

If a domain name is already taken and you'll be buying a domain name with the exact keyword phrase with something added in, such as "aperfectclock" (no one would use that obviously) is it better in your experience to put the extra letter or word on the beginning or end of the url? This is probably way too picky of a question, but just in case anyone knows.

The other question is that whenever I'm using Market Samurai and I go to the domains section, it shows me the percentage of the various urls that are an exact match for the keyword I'm targeting. My thought is that this holds some significance for ranking, but I'm not sure how important it is. Does it seem to matter whether you add just a letter onto the keyword or a whole word? An example would be "aperfectclock" vs. "perfectclockplace".

Extra letter at the end. In the past it was trendy; still is I guess, to have:

keyword+x.com

I have had #1 rankings in competitive niches for domain formats like this:

keyword+help.com
keyword+info.com

Been using both with success to be honest, both before and after the keywords. I use simple and COMMON words that add up some interest to the domain name - and I run away from words as best, free, top, etc etc.

Ok, thanks. That's good news to hear.

Thanks. I've been thinking about that too, staying away from words that seem too trendy and finding something that sounds a little more related to the keyword phrase.

Glad to help you with this. Here's one live example: I needed a domain name for one project but the good .COM I wanted was registered so I bought a different one, way more brandable:

Peniche Surf City | Surf Holiday Surf Lessons & Surf Accommodation in Peniche

As you can see I was after the words "Peniche" and "Surf". Adding CITY to it I created a brandable name and a great positioning among my competitors.

You just need some time to work your way around this to get a good one.
