Default Paid Links within Googles Spam Report page

Came across this interesting article over the weekend which highlights paid links as the most prominent aspect of the Webmaster tools spam report webpage:

Google’s Spam Report Page Gets “Biggest Refresh” In Years

Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that paid links are going to be part of SEO in a couple of years time. Interested in hearing what other peoples thoughts are about this.

This is a good find but many will argue that there are types of links you can pay for that are undetectable. Mostly due to the fact that any link on the web in thoery could have been paid for.

Exactly...

Especially when dealing with related pages... If i go to a blog in the authority and give the webmaster 40$ to put my link in the sidebar, there is no way google is going to know. It would look natural.
