I am creating a website for my new local offline marketing business and my business name is available as a .com or even .net domain in many forms (hyphens, etc). However, I can come up with a short clever phrase related to my business name using a .in domain. This is for my main website that will be my email address, will be on my business cards etc. It's not a keyword domain, but it is related to the type of marketing I do. Is this a bad idea? Will it hurt my chances at getting any kind of rankings on my pages? I do plan on using keyword domains for lead generation, if that matters. Thanks! |

It won't really matter in terms of ranking, but it will definitely matter in terms of trust and credibility.

Yes, it will affect rankings as it's country-based (will not affect rankings in your country). And yes, it will affect credibility and trust (will not in your country).

Debbie - Thanks for your input... Do you think that my really well-designed website and being local myself can offset the credibility issue? As well as adding other credibility and trust elements to the site? Cosmit - You seem to be contradicting yourself in your message, can you clarify? Thanks. |
