hello friends, i want to know how page rank works bcos i see some site having alexa ranking o 7,884,389 and the site have page rank 3, soe it means the site was give ranking by google for a keyword or how does it work explain,

Really I think your google page rank is most important. Alexia is kind of weird. Basically the higher the pagerank in google, the more "important" google sees your site and it gives kicks up on your PR on certain search results.

I would agree that in terms of Google ranking PageRank definitely is more important. In fact, PageRank is not a factor on any other search engine but you probably know that...

PR takes into factor many different things, some experts believe over 100 different things. Think of it like a Quality Score for Google AdWords, it takes into consideration things like landing page quality, keywords, and more to come up with a score that helps determine how you will rank.

Page rank is given from the pages you build links on. If you build a link to your site on a PR5 page with few outgoing links, then you will get a lot of this PR juice passed onto your site. If PR is what you are after, then concentrate on building links to your site on high PR pages with low outgoing links and your PR will increase on the next update.

A web surfer who chooses a random link on every page (but with 15% likelihood jumps to a random page on the whole web) is going to be on Page E for 8.1% of the time. (The 15% likelihood of jumping to an arbitrary page corresponds to a damping factor of 85%.) Without damping, all web surfers would eventually end up on Pages A, B, or C, and all other pages would have PageRank zero. Page A is assumed to link to all pages in the web, because it has no outgoing links.

I personally would not get too caught up in the PageRank number (0-10) this is more for vanity purposes and has no real impact SEO wise any longer. In fact, Google removed the data from Google Webmaster Tools PageRank in October 2009.

You mean "How Does Page Rank Work?".
If Google sees your site valuable, they will give it a higher page rank.

A lot of people say that your PR is all about back links. Actually, it's not true. Traffic, content and bounce rate have a lot more effect on your PR then back links.
For example, my main web site: Rogue Valley is PR4 with 7 backlinks.
